It’s been a crazy few months. I have felt all the stages of grief. Denial! Anger! ….And finally acceptance. We found ourselves as a family slowly accepting the strange new routine. First I kept forgetting that I couldn’t just arrange a quick catch up with friends. Or go to a restaurant for a special occasion. But soon (suprisingly so) we accepted this new life and now that the restrictions are slowly being lifted I am trying to hold onto as much of our new lives as we possibly can. The slow morning routines. The long weekend bike rides. Not rushing from place to place. How long will we be able to hold onto our our new simplified lives?
Although most of life as we knew it had changed, I received an email from Laura on a Wednesday night asking if I would be able to photograph a very special wedding for their very dear friends Abby and Mitch. That Saturday! After planning the wedding of a lifetime in Spain, and being faced with the prospect of having to postpone their wedding. And with friends and loved ones scattered across the globe they were unsure of when their dream would become a reality! They decided to focus on what was important.
The most important part of a wedding day is after all love and sharing that with friends & family!
So, a few hours of set up, a half hour ceremony in front of 90 zoom guests(bigger than the original wedding guest list) a quick chat with the neighbour (who decided he would operate some very noisy power tools just as the ceremony was getting under way) and they were married!

I have been to a few weddings now, I have photographed them, help plan them, attended them and have gotten married myself. And I can say hands down this has been one of the most special I have had the privilege to be a part of. And it wasn’t just because I felt happy to finally be out of the house and away from my children!
The day just strengthened the feeling that I had felt living in this strange new world, where all the bells, whistles and fan fare had been taken away and all we had left was to focus on was what is really important to us….
Love & family,
Everything else is just a way of filling up our time.
Please enjoy some special images captured on this very special day! 😉
