Lifestyle Newborn Photography

The Newborn phase is such a special time for the family, everyone is learning how to cope with this new dynamic and things change daily. Capturing all the little details in these first few weeks are very important. I use a very gentle approach to my newborn sessions. Poses are kept simple and led by your baby, ensuring your baby is comfortable and happy at all times. These sessions are very relaxed and informal in the comfort of your home, a very unique experience tailored to you and your family.

How long will the session last?

Session normally last between 2-3 hours, allowing enough time for your baby to be fed, comforted and soothed.

Why are the sessions in my home?

Sessions take place in your home allowing the focus to be on your baby and your first days together (perhaps giving baby their first bath or just having a cuddle on the couch), this also gives the perfect opportunity for the whole family to be included in the session. Everyone will be comfortable and familiar with their environment, which makes everyone more relaxed and at ease. I will also take a lot of photo’s of your baby on their own, focusing on their natural cues, and in poses that are natural and led by your baby.

Do you use props?

I believe babies are perfectly beautiful as they are and because my focus will be on your baby and keeping them as comfortable as possible, I do not use any props as part of my newborn sessions. My poses are very simple and led by your baby, allowing them to be in poses that they find most comfortable.  Please feel free to have a look at my recent sessions below for some examples of what a typical session might look like. However, because every baby, home and family are different, your session will be unique to you and your family.

When is the best time to book?

If you would particularly like very sleepy photo’s of your newborn, they go through a very sleepy phase in their first few days of life (up to about 10 days) and this would be the perfect time to get the sleepy photo’s. But because my style is fairly relaxed and if you just want to some beautiful family pictures and some adorable photo’s of your newborn as they are then any time in the first 3 moths is perfect. Another thing to also consider is that at about 2/3 weeks babies lose their little protective layer of skin and so their skin becomes very dry and flaky (which I still think is cute) But is also something to keep in mind when booking the sessions. 🙂
